Dr John Warren was educated in the medical apprenticeship traditionof mid-18th century Boston, Massachusetts. As a surgeon in theAmerican Continental Army he honed not only his surgical butalso his teaching skills by providing continuing medical educationto his colleagues in Boston’s military hospital. Warren becamea driving force in post-war Boston medicine. His organizationaltalents, zeal for science and vision for Massachusetts medicineled to the creation of Harvard Medical School.
